The Denver Curling Club will host the 2020 Colorado Curling Cup in September of 2020. Yes, curling…like in the Olympics! The sport captivated the world when the US Men’s curling team won their first-ever gold medal in the 2018 Winter Olympics. The historic event has stimulated enormous growth for curling in the US, and Reuters has since named curling “the world’s fastest-growing winter sport.” We are excited about the Colorado Curling Cup for two main reasons:
- The top US team will earn 1 of the 10 spots at the 2021 USA Mixed Doubles Olympic Trials to compete for the title of Team USA at the 2022 Olympics.
- This is the only event in Colorado or the surrounding states on the World Curling Tour (www.worldcurl.com) — a circuit of events similar to golf’s PGA tour. The World Curling Tour is the largest stage outside the Olympics for curlers to compete with events hosted in North America, Europe, and Asia.
The event will be more than just curling. It features a licensed full bar and a heated curling spectator area that holds up to 200 people. We also have outdoor space for lawn games, food trucks, and tents for merchandise, food, and drink. It will be a truly Colorado curling experience.
